[Best Stories] Taking on the Guardians

Postby Supreme Jerk Chaos » March 14th, 2012, 3:50 pm

My group - Chaos, Mayhem, Havoc & Turmoil - took on the Guardians Citadel with nothing but kevlar armor and rockets (LAW and Sabot). Pop from behind a corner, light off a round, pop back behind the corner.

So, I essentially blew thousands and thousands of dollars (and had to load many, MANY saves after the entire group was massacred)...only to find out some time later that I REALLY should have discovered Sleeper Base first.

On the upside, the rest of the game seems really easy once you have Power Armor very early in the game.

Then, there's the time that I lugged a dead NPC recruit (his name is forgotten) around for days before noticing that he was, in fact, dead. I took him to the Citadel, gave him a robe and a spear, then buried him by one of those warning flags.

Nice story on burying a dead character at the Guardian Citadel.

For years I never realized you could walk past the Guardian Citadel as a shortcut and the Guardians would not attack you. The only problem with this tactic is using an Apple IIGS with only 5.25" drive you needed to change between Disk 1 and Disk 3 several times.

It is a tough choice between favorite locations, Guardian's Citadel or Base Cochise. But running through the Citadel with chainsaws and proton axes was definitely a high point of many of my playthroughs. After 6 or 7 times through the game with the same party, why bother with firearms at all, when you have insanse Brawling scores? :D

My first look at the citadel ended my first run through the game. I was never one to listen to threats so I barged on in and as soon as I saw the first sister I thought my 9mm and .45 would do me just fine. It was over before I could even run.
