My wife keeps saying, 'You're such a geek.' but she just doesn't understand, the last time I was able to enjoy Wasteland I was 14 playing on my father's Commodore 64. Being able to put some money towards this project has been a dream come true.

Actually I heard of this from my boyfriend, and way asier to be along in this as the girlfirend, just like one said from the wife perspective. =) If only I could afford to spend 1000 dollars I would be all for it, definitly this is worth it a lot more than many other games now days. Rather to spend the money in something that you really want, than something you have had to endure or be dissatisfied for many years now. But studentäs money does not really allow me to spend that amount unfortunatly, but I am definitly thinking to at least raise the funding from 50 dollars to 100 or maybe even to the 250 dollars. Either of those would be awesome!

But unfortunatly not cool stories of spouse reactions, we both loved the old games, so this was a no brainer project to support. =)

Shortly after getting re-married, I was able to introduce my wife to the Xbox 360 and the games, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. She already had a considerable collection of PC games that she plays, so explaining how I wanted to help the ancestor of her favorite Xbox games see its sequel made was no issue. I am thankful I have a gamer/hockey-loving wife.

I won't live long enough to spend more on gaming than that thing.

The only significant there ever was in my life is my Personal Computer. It fully understands my needs and I have never heard it complain when I stuffed it with my software. Actually, the news of Wasteland 2 made it all warm and fuzzy inside.

Compressed air will take care of that. I am unchained, but can still appreciate the humor in here.

Luckily my partner is a gamer himself so while dropping $90 for the $75 pledge reward raised eyebrows he has spent the last few years hearing me bitch and moan about the dissapearance of single player, party, turn based, RPG's while waxing lyrical about the joys of the previous iconic titles which he sees me replaying on a regular basis.

So though I recieved a bit of teasing for my obsession - and expect to continue recieving that for some time to come, he does understand and now has that purchase for ammunition to use when he needs to convince me about some future expensive gaming purchase that he absaloutely has to have.

None of my family would care,or even believe I was crazy enough to support something that for years they called childish.That being said,I did mention it to my students,who speak little english,and none seemed to understand.I'll mention it again to them in a year and see if they're any better.

As a $15 backer I'm reluctant to post, but being a nerd about personal finance I couldn't help myself.

My wife and I each get $50 a month to spend on whatever we want, no questions asked. So there you have it and I still have enough to buy my comics for the month.

Also, it was easier to explain having just done the Double Fine kickstarter.

Well good thing I listened to my wife yesterday my car died and its costing $800 to repair. I would have felt bad having to retract my pledge to a lower amount.

Great post lol. Yes... I started with a $15 dollar bid... luckily my wife knows how much I love the fallout series and how I have a huge place in my heart for this, so she was pretty understanding. But I'm going to up to the $50 dollars and she can find out about that later.

i told my wife i would have supported dwarf fortress and wasteland 2, the former for its genius, the latter for being the resurrection of a milestone in the genre. she said as long as those were quality project, then my donation would be just and righteous. she also liked the idea of a completely fan funded project and the fact that devs asked for ideas to their fanbase.
considering these are times of needs, at least for us, i expected a not-so-positive reaction

So I don't have a spouse, but I can give you some of the reactions of my classmates (final year of uni and running a company) when I said I gave $1000. One guy straight up saluted me, everyone else said I was bonkers or just sort of went "..huh...".

Then some of them went and bought an iPad 3 (or w/e the fuck it's called 'new' iPad) so I was like "trololol".

Considering Interplay was either fully or partially reponsible (and then employees from interplay/black isle later on) for almost my entire top 10-ish list of games (the interplay catalogue + things like Vampire TM Bloodlines, etc) and that those games pushed me to get into game production myself there was no way I was going to pass up the chance to give everything I could, so I did. Everything I can afford without missing a rent cheque.

My wife was understanding and stated

"Darling, the 10,000 is out, sorry, the 1,000 is out, but the others are fine"

So I went $75

"Well, you see, most modern games are $60 when they come out, so I figured the $50 donation would actually be cheaper, plus it got me stuff. Then, I realized that special edition games are usually about $80, so my $100 donation wasn't too out of bounds..." Followed by a thirty minute monologue about the history of game feelies, and how awesome it'd be to have my name in the credits even if nobody in the world will care but me.

"I guess it's okay. Just wish you'd told me beforehand."

I support it helps that, over the years, I've bored her senseless by talking about Wasteland, so she already knew I would be drawn like a moth to a flame over this.

My boyfriend/spouse don't really have a say on how I spend my money, but that didn't stop him from whining when I gave my $115!

My husband told me about the Kickstarter. I still have my original (well, a copy I bought eventually for PC) copy. If I had $10k, I would've donated it happily.

He's the one who suggested I put in $100 so I could get my name in the credits, since I love the game as much as I do. He was happy with just getting the digital copy.
