Too often in "RPGs" nowadays, you really have to play as an evil scumbag or angelic protector of justice to get access to additional things. I'd like to think that it's not just me and that there's a number of us who like to play it down the centre, making some "bad" decisions and some "good" ones.

After all, if I'm putting myself into a character, I tend to act nice to those who I like and not so much to those who I perceive as dicks :)

So yes on this. New Vegas did this to a degree. It'd be nice to see it done in Wasteland 2 .

Development don't even start yet.

Right now we just submit our idead and vision here.
I think its okay if everyone can do that, anyway later we will have something dedicated for backers.
But I don't see anything bad if somebody make some post here without making pledge :)

This option

Create an old school 8-bit version

Why not have som minor game elements in Wasteland 2 done this way just to give some of us this old school feeling?

I would LOVE you guys to do the original in the new engine or at the least optimize the orig so it runs with the computers of today without having to resort to emulators.

How do you even separate the backers from the non-backers?

How about we add increase speed of development as a poll option?

Its really easy.
Just create special hidden sub-forum for backers and after send unique "invite codes" to every of backers.

Right not its not so important because developers can get lot of different user input.
I think its good if everybody can describe own opinion what kind of game its should be.
Also everybody can read different opinions: e.g some people want modding, some not. Its useful to know opinion of other fans.
Possible Wasteland 2 can get more backers because of that. 8-)

But after kickstarter project will be funded its will be very useful to create special sub-forum.
Its hard to read all all posts from everybody, but if I give money to this project I want to be sure developers read my request.
Special forum can help to keep discussion clean of trolling and see what think people who gives their money :D

I'm not sure I like the idea of a vip forum. I want to contribute just as much you do but I really don't think there needs to be a separation between people who have pledged and those who have not. Why should the developers value the ideas and opinions of those who have pledged more than someone who hasn't? Just because they've pledged money?

Well... Money does talk I guess.

Here's a thought - I imagine you'll keep updating total pledge levels with info on what is available at higher levels; eg 1.5 mil gets X, 2 mil gets Y, ... You could also clarify that any money raised over one of these levels which doesn't meet the next will will be spent on Z - probably expanding the world..?

Also, I see some discussion on changing existing rewards - please don't revise existing levels with many backers lightly! I got the $100 kit because I like the sound of what's in it - miniature and badge etc.

Really want to avoid this. Just add to any rewards. I expect to get what I pledged the amount for.

While I agree with the sentiment, there is one good reason why there should be a private forum for backers: for the purposes of keeping things honest. At the moment, if someone really wanted a particular feature in the game, they might be so inclined to create a bunch of fake accounts and post/vote just to give the impression that there is a large fanbase requesting said feature. A backer-only forum would ensure that each account is tied to one backer. It's not a perfect solution by any means, but it is something.

I can't believe that voice acting and two graphics options each have over 10% of the vote.

The hell people? This is why we don't get nice things anymore.

Amen to that brother. If they would focus on the world, dialogue, intricate and complex questing, bug fixing, and story, we would have much better games. Graphics alone aren't strong enough to make a title solid.

For Wasteland 2 in particular, I would like to see a very well fleshed out complex combat system with nice weapon sound effects, but the stuff mentioned above is utmost important.

What should people be voting on then? Ports to devices they don't own or versions of the game they have no interest in? Where's the choice for making this into an FPS? I have no interest in that, but apparently we're supposed to vote for what we AREN'T interested in.

Oh, you mean the option that has nearly 700 votes and is currently in the lead? But, that doesn't have bug fixing. How do we vote on that if there's no option for it? Besides, I think fixing bugs happens no matter what the funding ends with.

Brayko wrote:Graphics alone aren't strong enough to make a title solid.

Which option covers that? I must have missed it. I pretty much assumed that the base funding Brian asked for was sufficient to make a solid title, not a crappy one. As Joby said in the first post, anything beyond the base funding would be for adding features. The poll seems to reflect that very thing.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here, but are you actually implying that you believe the combat system is going to suck at the current funding level? Based on what Fargo has stated, I expect a great, tactical combat system, designed to take advantage of the party size.

It makes me wonder if some of these people understand why this kickstarter was begun in the first place.

One and a half year is already a very short development time, I don't think it's possible to do much shorter. Things like adding people to an already appropriately sized software development team rarely increases production speed very much.

Actually I'd like to see the opposite, putting money into extending the development time by a couple of months up to half a year. Time is one the most important resources there is, especially in software development!
