Funniest Text and Dialogue

Postby owenmp » March 6th, 2012, 6:56 pm

What was the funniest text or dialogue in Wasteland 1?

Here are three of my favorites.

* The text that appears when you attempt to continue swimming into the north wall in the Blood Chamber.

* The text that appears when you visit the Occult Shop in Downtown Needles.

* One of the first paragraphs in the Paragraph Book featuring a woman and a submachine gun.

It was the very first paragraph. Also one of my favorites.

It took me till I was an adult to know about the fake paragraphs. I think I first started playing the game just to eventually get to that first paragraph, which of course never happened.

I liked when you howitzered the luncheon at needles if you walked over the girl would collapse while saying: would you like fries with that?

Then the game narration said something about some You can't buy food here anymore cause some nameless scum bag blew it up

"The Power of The Force stopped you on that one, you hoser."

Funny thing, I didn't actually get to see Strange Brew until many many years later.

In Faran Brygo's lair there's a computer upon which you see an ad for Wasteland 2, your character's response to which is to shiver in anticipation.

Without question, when I consider the game, on the whole, all these years later, that that and the game explaining how 'some inconsiderate jerk blew up the Hobo Dog, it's no longer in business' or however they worded it, was THE funniest part of the game, hands down.

I always felt terrible about it, and never blew up the stand again. Then again, I can be a bit of a softie in games. I still rescue Ralf every playthrough, even though I never hire him.

Just northwest of the Stagecoach Inn, there's a tree next to the south wall of a building. If you want onto the tree and attempt to continue north, you'll get the message.
