As an old Fallout and CRPG fan, I'd love to help out with the German translation!

I grew up in a bilingual family, spent a total of six years of my life in West Texas, and studied for two years at UTEP, so I am definitely aware of the cultural and linguistic barriers that can kill a good translation. I am currently studying English and history at a German university and I am also employed at my local English department. Furthermore, I have translated a poker website into German before.

Where do I send my resume? :D

I'm a native Polish speaker and though I don't have any formal experience with translation, I think Wasteland 2 would be an absolutely perfect project to gain it.

I translated both Fallout 1 & 2 in Italian (single-handedly) and I worked on the Italian version of Ultima VII part 1 and 2. If you need an experienced Italian translator, here I am!

This doesn't look like an official sign-up thread, but just in case, I'm another Frenchman willing to work on the French localization.

I have worked as a translator before (not games unfortunately, technical documentation and business documents mostly), and I've been playing games my whole life (video games, pen & paper RPGs, wargames), hell, I even started learning English because I wanted to play Magnetic Scrolls and Infocom text adventure games so badly :)

I agree with what Ausir said, a small team would be easier to manage (for assigning work, keeping track of progress, sharing documents like lists of common names and spellings...). It would also be easier if there are Non-Disclosure Agreements to sign or similar paperwork.

I would like to help with the German translation. My line of work includes translations from English to German on (blurbs for tv documentaries for the most part). Plus I have been an avid scifi fan for decades and just love the idea of resurrecting Wasteland =)

Hey!
Don't know if there's any plan to localize the game to portuguese (specially Brazilian), but if you guys ever consider this possibility, sign me up! :D

I could easily localize the game to brazilian portuguese, I've already did localization for more than 100 games like Freedom Fighters, The Sims (main games and add-ons), Need for Speed, a few MMOs (from Ragnarök to World of Warcraft), a few FIFA Soccer (also worked as editor for the voice work) and many, many others.

As a big fan of the original Wasteland and Fallout games, I just want to help this project!

One more Polish guy here. ;)
I'm a trained translator. I've been working as a freelance translator/proofreader for a couple of months now. I don't have much experience just yet, but I'm learning fast and I'm eager to help. :) If you need any help, let me know.

I could help with that too. I'm Brazilian and have a degree in English. Been working with translation for some years now, if that helps in any sense.

Hi,

I am French and already translated several post-apocaliptic documents, all related to Fallout. I am a big fan of this game and its universe so I decided to translate the Fallout Bible, the Fallout 2 Editor and parts of the MIB megamod 2.1

I would be glad to help !!

What we can see in this thread is that RPGs are most popular in Germany, Poland and Russia. :D

That said, I'd be glad to help with the Russian version. I am not a pro translator, but I'm rather fluent in English, so I hope I can be of use.

Wow, so many of our neighbors from Poland and nobody from the Czech Republic...

I'm an experienced freelance CZ-EN translator and I worked for example on a fan translation of Dragon Age 2. I'd love to help with the Czech localization ... and if there won't be an official one, then I'll probably participate in a fan translation anyway :D

Hey, guess what? Another volounteer for Polish translation! Yes, I've read something about Polish team being already chosen but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Native Polish speaker, on 2nd year of english studies (translation specialty), lifelong gamer and a fan of music. If you're looking for someone disciplined but laid-back, passionate but cool-headed with a lot of free time available - I'm your man. I'd more than love to be a part of this what's-gonna-be-a-kickass game!! :D

Hey!

You can sign me up for the Polish translation! Native Polish, though almost-native English speaker too! I read all the time in both languages, big fan of sci-fi books. Have been playing RPGs for as long as I can remember. My translating experience is mostly limited to academia (philosophy, ethics), but I have done some fantasy short stories as well.

I can also help proofread the German translation! :)
