East Coast

I'd like to see East Coast with a late 70's early 80's vibe, all between Boston, NYC, and Maybe Philly. Lotsa landmarks that could be worked in as locations. DC was Fallout so there's no reason to go there. Jersey's also got plenty of toxic waste that could be worked in as well...

East coast would be cool. Post Apocalyptic Georgia with an 80's vibe could be interesting.

Northeast Coast to GA down to FL would be interesting. It all depends if they can come up with a method of fast travel that makes sense in a post-apoc setting. Maybe someone still has one line of amtrack running? The GA setting could carry over some themes from the recent Walking Dead series. ATL CDC, etc... FL has swamps that would make a great setting.

I really like NYC for a main setting, similar to the Escape from New York movie. Obviously a super diverse population. Plus, NYC has awesome infrastructure to mess with. Crumbled skyscrapers and bridges. A wild Central Park. The subway, sewers, and the sub-levels even below the subway and sewers are ready made dungeons. Underwater tunnels to cross all the rivers. Stadiums to turn into castle-like fortresses. The 5 Burroughs for gang war. Maybe secret bunkers and vaults under banks and municipal buildings. Plus all the great landmarks of NYC to lovingly destroy or change to suit the purposes of the game designers.

Plus you have the Central Park mounted Rangers, and the Rangers NHL team. What more can you ask for as story starting points!? ;) Or maybe it's cause I live there and everyone would naturally be partial to their home regions...

I think the midwest is good but my 2nd choice would also be east coast especially new york new jersey and possibly the surrounding area even into pittsburgh or ohio. There is alot of old shut down factories up in that area which would make for a decent apocalyptic setting (some would say parts of detroit already look like the apocalypse hit it)

Mainly though Philadelphia would be a good spot to inlcude as it has a ton of rich cultural history with many of the buildings in the city having been built in the 17 and 1800's still intact today. And then New Jersey actually has a book written about it called "wierd New Jersey" about all the strange things in the state. There were rumors of a "devil" that roamed a wilderness area called the Pine Barrens (where I spent one week of high school at "Mount Misery")

and then of course you have New York and everything in it...could stretch up to Boston too...and out to Pittsburg and the old industrial cities of ohio...would make a good setting for a game in my opinion...good 2nd option if there is enough funding to expand it that far.

I say they should be part of the security force that would have been located with Cheyenne Mountain. So start out in Colorado Springs and move eastward. That would be awesome. They could hit my hometown of Pueblo. It could be the Mos Eisley of the Wasteland "A wretched hive of scum and villainy".

2 cents worth

Brian Fargo has confirmed that the game is set in the Southwestern United States, just like the original.

And therefore everyone should come over here and support the birthplace of the nuclear bomb as the setting. :D
in my opinion
