Wow people. I cant believe how hard I am being hit in the face with positive energy! its knocking my ass down

As an artist I cant possibly think of a better scenario to make a creatively driven game.
Thank you to every single backer that helped make this dream of ours a reality.

Awesome! Though I never doupted that the project would not get enough money, there's still many out there that loved these older games, and what's a more worthier way of spending money than getting someting we loved back in a completly new story. =)

I can't wait!

LESS POSTING MORE DRAWING!!!

:D

In all seriousness I hope it works out well for you guys (hence why I threw in my money). Hopefully this will allow for some creative freedom to do the things that you wish, and that you know work because they were done in games in the past, but you've been told aren't ok in new games.

And if there's ever a doubt that "old school" visual styles don't work in games anymore, just look at Bastion, and Recettear. Both tore up the charts and both could have been from the SNES era in terms of style. The actual visuals were much higher quality of course, since we've better hardware, but many gamers responded strongly to the style. I lvoed both of them personally.

I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

:D Congrats on passing a $Mil!

I can't believe how happy this makes me -- I played the first Wasteland on the Commodore back in the day, and it literally changed my life, informing the direction of my entire artistic career. To get another is the greatest gaming dream.

We have to keep this running for as long as possible!

I want to donate at least to the $50 tier, but I don't have a credit card  . What can I do, guys?

I'd VA for Wasteland 2 for free. I already do a crapton of fan voice-acting projects (fandubs/abridged series). Why not provide for one of my favorite games?

That was something I suggested as well, and maybe they'll look at. They could create a web form where you can audition for characters. You get a concept picture, description, and some lines to read. You read it and upload the result. The sound designer then listens to the results and if they find someone they like, let them know.

The technical side is certainly there. $150 gets you a nice professional Audio Technica condenser microphone, so it is within range of anyone to have the kind of hardware you need to make a recording good enough for VO work.

Then it is all up to talent. They'd need a good screening process since some people are, ummm, not as talented as they think they are and they'd also need contingency plans to hire professionals for any roles they couldn't fill. However it could very well work.

I'd certainly audition.

If you search on Amazon for USB condenser mics under the musical instruments department and have the results tiered by user ratings and shuffle through the pages, you can find high-quality mics and accessories for starting out at very cheap prices, and I always like to encourage more people to try voice-acting. Competition is always a good thing.

If they do auditions for Wasteland 2 VAs, then I look forward to trying out with everyone else who will.

Congratulations InXile, at the risk of sounding like we should all have a soppy virtual hug - you are the talent behind the game afterall and just when I thought games had nothing more to offer, this has actually changed my mind. Just a damn shame I was playing Rampage on my ZX Spectrum 128k @ time of Wasteland 1. Still I'd rather now spend time researching the story of Wasteland than playingsome of the modern day RPG crap.

I think $2 million is a goal we may achieve. But to do that we need more coverage. I really hope that some ink based medias pick up the story as well.
What I don't understand is that there is no Paypal possible. I think there would be at least 30% more backers if Paypal was not excluded. Maybe we can do something about that?

There's nothing inXile can do about PayPal. It's all Kickstarer's policy, and I guess they didn't come to terms with paypal.
TK6530 wrote:And you know what's the funniest part? It was only in the first two days. We still have 33 days to go! I can only imagine what the total funding will be!

All those publishers who denied funding Wasteland 2 must be wanting to kick themselves so hard right now

This is definetely the way to do it. If you want to play the games you deserve to play, then this is the way.

This is the ultimate evidence the genere is far from dead. Let's stop big publishers from deciding what we get to play and support the games that we really want to play.

To put this into perspective, DF achieved $1MM in the first day, and finished at $3.4MM by the end. If this trend continues, W2 backing will top off at about $1.8-2MM, which is still a pretty good score, IMO, but $5MM as some suggested, is out of the question, IMO.

edit. I guess we can all start to play lottery. Whoever wins $100MM, will donate $20MM to this project. I'd love to see that happen 8-)

Hello guys.

New here.

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!! Finally we will play a REAL RPG for MEN without consolitis in 2013!!!

I´m a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2, never played Wasteland, tho. But all my support to Brian Fargo and the rest of the team. And I would like to thank you all for creating this game.

Hope you guys hit 1.5M and beyond to have the best possible game.

Pledged U$S50 + 15 for shipping. Maybe I will change it to U$S75, beta is very tempting :)

God speed in this creative journey!

Does anyone know What percentage of the total funding they will receive? i assume Amazon has their cut, and kickstater would as-well. Is there anything else?
