[Bad Memory] Making backup disks

I had the Commodore 64 version. When I first got it I didn't realize I had to have four blank disks before I could start. My game playing time was delayed. I had to go to the store and buy blank disks.

Ah yes, the days of the floppy disk. Some other thread reminded me that you also to backup a floppy to make a backup save to avoid the autosave. I had an entire box of disks for this and Bardstale.

Floppies deifinitely had their drawbacks. Like not working anymore today. My disks no longer go beyond the intro screens for the games (



But the purr of that 5.25" drive is forever seared into my mind.

AH the PURR of that 5-1/4 Drive...I remember me and my bro taking what seemed like an hour to make those disks

Four disks? Pah! I used two. You just had to use a hole-punch to make a notch on the other side, then you could use both sides of the disc. Just had to be careful you didn't punch through the disc itself.

I pulled mine out a couple weeks ago and was surprised to see that they still worked. I wonder what the life expectancy is on those old disks.

Hole punch.... Luxury.... In my day I used a sharp knife and another disc turned over.

I used to make so many copies of those discs so I could replay levels and get more loot. Good times!
