A bit of a early internet meme. While this could fall under the random encounter idea. It would be nice to find a ringing phone booth in the wasteland, and get either a quest from it, or a computerized telemarketer or something on the other line.

I think it would be an awesome random encounter. Naturally it would have to be ringing and the player should be treated to the most off the wall random conversation, but I can't even fathom what it would be about or what the reward would be.

Maybe chat with a really lonely supercomputer reminiscent of the one in Fallout?

I'm for a crazy arms dealer who desperately tries to sell his spare nukes and complains that not even the most evil of supervillains would touch them  .

Yeah. Would be a nice easter egg, but to make it rarer I think it shouldn't give any quest. If it starts a quest everyone would go looking for it when they find out. But if you make it more special and secret feature, and bitches will be surprised. Bitches love to be surprised.

I'd love a small side quest where you find a phone booth and answer it and then the guy on the other end tells that he got your head in his sniper rifle scope.

You can either talk him down, send your other team members to find him or try to walk away.

Then it would turn out that he got you sniper rifle scope, but he doesn't the sniper rifle

I forgot about that phone booth! Yeah, it got taken down in 2000, so in WL history, it's still there... and it might even still be working. :D

Gee, i'd like some crazy stuff like in the movie "Last Call" or the issue of the supercomputer sending you in a quest to an old phone company that is crashed to restore its comunicative functions. It's really awsome that this stuff comes up now :D

This is an excellent idea. Anyone remember the 1988 movie 'Miracle Mile' ? : Guy trying to call a girl he's just met is in a booth. Then:"When the phone rings moments later he picks it up, hearing a frantic man telling his dad that nuclear war is about to break out in fifty minutes. When Harry finally gets a chance to talk and asks who's calling, the caller realizes he has dialled the wrong area code. Harry then hears him being arrested and shot..." It starts bleak, gets bleaker, ends in an apocalypse. Perfect! :D

I like it...though if I found one before I saw a more advanced ranger base where radio is used, I would most likely
smash it when it scars me to death with a sudden ringing...

Dear God! Hearing that I would also blow it in even smaller pieces by shotgun, to be sure it really died
