Agricultura Center as in small vilage, something which shows how ordinary people live.

I don't have knowledge for it, but it would be intresting to see it scaled properly. How much land is needed to support small village with a few craftsmans. Show how most ordinary folks live...

I voted for Environment/Wilderness, but I'm also pretty interested to see an Agricultural Centre. That's also environmentalish.

Agricultural Center! Don't forget the giant satellite dish... Of course it isn't absolutely necessary but I think it lends it that wasteland feel somehow (and of course it was in the original.) I just love the image of this giant piece of the "old world" being physically dominant but also ignored, surrounded by the fields of crops and everyday life.

Here are some original descriptions, some whimsical:
Spuds. Freshly unearthed potatoes watch you with their eyes.
Wheat. A lot of it.
Broccoli forest. The 30 foot tall stalks tower over your puny human body.
Big beans.
Peas the size of bowling balls lie on the ground in pods.

from paragraph 84, partial description:

In the shadow of an enormous satellite tracking dish stands the old man. Over 100 years old...The farmers remove their hats as they approach and wait for him to speak. ... he stares at what appear to be the remains of a 15-foot tall carrot. ... The old man studies your weapons, and tells you that he doesn't think your peashooters will do any good against the armored varmints, but that you're welcome to try. ...

while pocking around the internet, i found this.
its actually close to how i was picturing towering broccoli trees. i just imagined them closer to redwoods in height.
Image
and heres a quick edit to make it feel more post apocalyptic...
Image
i would like there to be a different reason for them other than radiation. maybe something subtle like half a agricultural research lab sign barely visible in a pile of rubble. in other words enough to make your mind wander but not enough to be a real answer.

In passing an old farmer could mention that the animals that feed on these plant have "grown strange"
Mostly harmless.

Just made it more brown. The first image looks fine for Wasteland.

Just draw a giant piece of broccoli being chopped down by a mutant/cyborg and call it a day.

God, yes.

Attention inExile: this very poll is the reason why we want MORE text descriptions of everything and ZERO voice acting or expensive cinematic cutscenes. I mean, where is the voting option for "mutant brocolli fighting a rusty helicopter cyborg in the reborn agricultural center of ruined San Francisco"? WHAR BROCLI WHAR!?!?!

Brian Fargo ‏@BrianFargo

The next concept piece from Andree Wallin is near done. His quote "This is why this is the most exciting project I've had in a long time."

https://twitter.com/#!/brianfargo
The biggest failure in the recent past is this assumption that the audience is not smart.Too much effort is being spent making it dummy proof..all the clues are being held right in front of their nose. The exploration and journey is the reward

Do note that his "next piece" from the poll is not necessarily the next piece Fargo is talking about. I know he's had another piece in the works too, with a p cool subject matter (if possibly slightly controversial, but what isn't), and that might come before what looks to be Agricultural Center, from the voting.

I'm quite sure there would be a controversy here going on for 5 pages and 15 wiki edits if they decided to put the end turn button on the left instead of the right
