I would have definitely put myself into the "I haven't played Wasteland" category. I finally got my hands on an Apple II emulator and started running through the game. As I got my butt kicked by the stupid bunnies, I couldn't help but thinking "there's something familiar about this"
The deja-vu feeling really got intense as I got to Quartz. There was something about the buildings, and the gunsels jumping out from every corner. It was Scott's bar that finally did it. URABUTLN appeared on one of the tables. If it was a cartoon, you would have seen a big bright lightbulb dancing above my head. So THIS is where that came from. Like the poster above, to me it wasn't "You're a beauty Ellen", it was "You're a butt Lynn". That little insult lasted for months in my circle. I don't even think we knew anyone named Lynn.
Of course, I don't think I made it past Quartz. My party in the current run through got to Needles, and nothing seems familiar anymore. Maybe that's why I didn't remember playing the game. I never finished for whatever reason.
Unfortunately, I need to restart again, because a corrupted save has stranded me on that little island under the blood temple with all the little biting fish.
The one thing I can't figure out is the timeline. If Wasteland was released in 88, it still doesn't quite make sense that I played it. The time that I would have had access to any Apple IIs would have been in 86 and 87. I didn't have access to one again until 93, and I'd still have the floppies (because I still have the Apple II).
