Marriage, Owning A House, Maybe? [poll added]

I don't know if it must be in the game, but perhaps getting married (with LGBTQ options, too so we are equal) and owning a house we can rest up in or store or excess weapons and armor would be pretty snazzy and helpful. Oh, and it'd be cool if I could decorate it a bit with the sprites of my blown-up enemies, hehehe.

I'm sorry, but please leave that stuff out of this game. Playing house and other Sims elements serve no real purpose in this kind of game (imo). All it offers is a random distraction for a select few and eats the already limited resources.

Rather keep the game focused than wander off to paths that may not lead to anything really worthwhile.

In my opinion.

I think owning a house might even be detrimental to the feel of a post-apocalyptic game.

I like the idea of having a house. It just gives you something to defend. Maybe hire guards to protect it while you're away.

And why stop at a house? Maybe start your own little fort, where you hire raiders and others to work for you. Dominate the wastelands!

Marriage doesn't sound like it will really fit this type of game.

Getting a sort of safehouse/command center, maybe.

Sounds more like an MMO than a single-player game.

I don't think there is reason to resort to personal attacks. Some people enjoy those features, though I don't think it belongs in this game.

I just ask whatever features are chosen to be in the final game are fully fleshed out and not just some tacked on, useless feature.

can't see connections between romances and this type of game. fallout 2 had marriage, in its funny way.

housing and post-apocalyptic feeling, as well. being in a post-nuclear world doesn't mean people can't have a personal shelter.

It would have to be implemented really well, to not spoil the game.

Generally I think, that this is not Barby and Kens Honeymoon, and therefor I personally would rather not want to see housing and marriages.

It wasn't intended as a personal attack. I just didn't think it was a serious question. It's hard to believe that someone who would want a turn based old style game like this would request an MMOG feature like that. Especially the marriage idea. Owning a house is not so bad except that this is a post-apoc game. I'm not sure the idea of anyone owning property really makes sense in such a world. Although I guess that would depend on how much time had passed since the war or disease or whatever. Don't we already have EA/Bioware to make dating simulators for us?

A selter? Possably, agian it would have to be impleted well, as to romance....thats a dead no. Sure its *could be* in the game, but it would go agianst the feel of -post atomic war.

Think I see about the selter is its a safe zone, a place to dump your crap, rest, ect. Which would not hurt the feeling, *if* it was done right.

The romance thing, I would have to strong say no to, you want that, go play a bio-ware or beth game ^^.

Romance? Sure, assuming it's thematically appropriate. Bonding over your shared hobby of cannibalism, for example, sounds humorously twisted. There are plenty of possibilities in that space that don't have to come straight from Twilight, you know?

Marriage? Eh, why not, assuming it leads to interesting role-playing options.

Owning a house? Probably not. Being able to establish a Desert Ranger outpost or something might fulfill the need without breaking the fiction.

I don't see any problems with owning a house or similar habitat. I haven't played Wasteland much, but I'm pretty sure there were houses, and there sure are in Fallouts. So why shouldn't player have the ability to acquire one too?

About marriage, I'm not so sure, but relationships involving more or less sex and other romantic aspects should be natural part of any party based game, for example Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape did them really well. They make the characters more realistic and believeable. These are basic instincts in humans and I think it's pretty silly to assume they somehow disappear in a postapocalyptic world.

Player housing sounds like a good thing to add, like options to establish a base/hideout etc.
Just walk away. Give me your pump, the oil, the gasoline, and the whole compound, and I'll spare your lives.

Thinking about it more, one thing that might be interesting is being able to create two PCs who are already married and have that affect your experience. Like, say, you might have a randomly generated argument, and one of the PCs leaves and gets killed or injured, you know?

That's probably a bit pie-in-the-sky, and it could be annoying, but it could also give a bit more life to the game.

Having some form of base or outpost is actually something I'd really like to see in the game. It doesn't really make sense for anyone to not have some sort of home, if you look at history even nomadic groups have set up base camps that they keep for substantial periods of time, and have used buildings they could carry with them such as tents, yurts, and teepees. Personally I enjoy being able to say "look, this is my place, and none of the nasty things of the wasteland can come in", as well as having something to build up which is a sort of a visible indicator of becoming more established in the world.

As far as romance and marriage, I don't have a problem with it being in the game but personally it's not an aspect of play that I would care much about and therefore I would prefer that inXile not expend too much time and money on it.
