Idea: Fame for each backer

Recently I posted some idea in thread with "portraits poll".

I think it's interesting idea to give all or some (e.g for $30 tier) backers some fame.
Not everybody can get $100 to be in credits, so some of us probably can be on official game site.

Probably inXile can make special part of site where some or all backers can submit their own name, photo and probably few words about Wasteland.
It's will be nice to be part of history and be allowed to say something about future game.
Some of us can submit some vision of future game, and some can tell story about first wasteland or their experience...

It's just simple prototype, but it's should work fine with HTML5 support or without it.
There still few problems with encoding, but I'll fix them in short time.

There are around 24000 people in the $30 backer camp, I imagine this would put some strain on bandwidth if they all decided to put a photo up.

I think a photo and story for everyone might be a bit much, but a huge Wall of Names would be great to have and be relatively small, data-wise.

Well, they could always do it like the NCR's "Boulder City Memorial Wall" for example somewhere in the wasteland, a list of names of people who supposedly "defended" an area from raiders or something like that, or even names of Rangers in years gone buy who passed away while "On Duty"

If it can be practically done/doesn't cost too much time, this might well be done. It's a nice thank-you of sorts.

Nothing will be added in-game for backers except the names/artefact/statue/shrine tiers from Kickstarter. Sorry, but it's already too much, in my opinion.

I agree that we shouldn't go overboard with in-game stuff. What was already promised probably didn't count on the game being so hugely popular---fitting in all those shrines, statues and names properly is going to be tough enough.

Looks pretty neat, but I kinda wish that the sphere would "stick" to your mouse and rotate in the same direction you move it instead of going in the opposite direction. I like the concept though.

One of the downsides to joining a new community is that nobody knows you, but in that we're all on a level field at the moment... I'm normally very reserved when it comes to things like names and "credits" and the like, but the idea of a sort of memorial wall appeals to me very much. In my opinion it would be even greater than having one's name in the credits to be part of a sort of Easter egg.

It would be more meaningful for me, when my son is looking over my shoulder at what I'm doing, to casually point to the screen and say, "See, there's my name". He's seen credits a few thousand times too many already.

Having said that, I also agree that some folks contributed as they did to get their names into the game and the line has been drawn. I couldn't afford it and I can live with that. This is Wasteland 2, not stroke our ego time.

I like the thought of this online tribute. It's quite nice. I would actually want to look at this. It would be cool if the backers could have a small message (character restricted for the verbose) displayed whenever their name is clicked (or maybe under their names). Though, it is somewhat difficult to click on the names.

It's a nice alternative to having a physical in-game tribute (so long as it's easy on the servers), seeing as there are several people who paid way more than I could ever scrounge up to get themselves in the game, like Brigand231, I'm totally cool with that.
