I would love some lengthy

Wasteland 1 script

that tells the background story. Not just a summary/abstract, but rather a collection of short stories with dialogue etc. This would be great. Original documents from the wasteland 1 development would be awesome, of course!

What do you think?

Cosmetic benefits for backers is totally cool in my book. It's a nice gesture to backers and really won't affect others who buy the game later on.

I understand why you want to upgrade $30 level.

Basically I strongly against any exclusive content, but probably it's doesn't change game like "Also your party will start with a unique and quirky skill.", so I vote YES because it's nice reason to upgrade for $30 level and that upgrade give more benefits than my "no exclusive content" policy.

I see no problem with extra portraits for backers. Just don't add exclusive gameplay material.

Just wish I had more money at the moment. Heh.

Don't really care, but I voted yes. It would be nice to hit 3m for the mod kit. I'm not sure if that will kick funding up that much. If the game allows you to import your own portraits I can see those leaking later on.

oh my, the added reward of the video blog really makes me concider upping my pledge, i just have to figure out if i have the funds for it, but that's the kind of rewards i love. As for the portraits it doesnt make much difference to me, it's just like pre-order exclusive stuff for any other game (or maybe even milder, as some of them even have some pretty significant items as rewards).

The problem with the ranger portraits is, if you are able to add your own portraits into the game, I don't see whats stopping people from taking all of those kickstarter exclusive portraits and copy and pasting everything to the non-kickstarter version

The only thing I wish I could get was beta access at $50. I know there is one for the $55 level, but I want a physical copy of the game. I guess we can't have everything though lol.

Considering it's a cosmetic bonus, I think it's fine, it doesn't harm anyone who misses out on them.
But I'm not sure it's really enough to encourage most to upgrade.

I think it's more of a gesture to get people to increase their pledge, not something designed to lock certain people out of.

I tell you what will happen if you do this:

As soon as there is a version that differs from the standard version, people are going to pirate it instead of buying it. No matter how insignificant the addition. It may give you a bump in kickstarter, but a loss on release.

+1 good idea, if the fifteeners move up to $30, the budget would blow up! I've already pledged all I can at $100 dollars, but I'm still promoting WL2 through my friends and contacts. It would be awesome to be able to add your own portrait pics, I've seen a lot of comments on this recently. I would think that adding the other stuff is a bigger bonus for $30 backers though, namely the vision doc and the dev blog movies are the things i'm interested in,+ an extra digital copy would be nice.

You've already indicated that the game will be distributed on Steam, and Steam supports the "buy once, play on any platform" paradigm. I understand that the DRM-free copy you're offering can't really work this way (since Steam is inherently a DRM system, but there's plenty of precedent for allowing users to download copies of a game for each platform that they own with the explicit rule that splitting them up between multiple users is a copyright violation (Humble Bundles come immediately to mind). If you're trusting me enough not to just give my Windows DRM-free digital copy of Wasteland 2 to all of my friends, why not trust me to have the same level of honesty with other platforms I use?

Personally, I'd rather see Mac/Linux/Windows versions offered to all purchasers, whether they're buying digitally, buying boxes, and whether they're backers or buying after release.

For the other three, I say go for it. They're all non-gameplay related minor perks. You've already said that users can import their own portraits, so including a couple extras for backers doesn't seem to limit other buyers much at all.

Hear Hear!

If it is offered on all platforms at the minimum asking price, how about any possible expansions at the $30 level? I don't mean anything like day-one DLC, but rather any and/or all DLC that will be planned for and made after release.

Additionally, what about an app like Geoff Keighley's "Final Hours of Mass Effect 3" or "Final Hours of Portal 2" at the $30 level? http://me3finalhours.com/

Votes YES so hard I think my mouse exploded. :o

I really like this idea, both as someone who loves getting things (Yeeee) and as someone who wants to see this game get AS MUCH fundings as possible. Didn't I hear that DoubleFine got their fans to make a huge push at the end and raised $600,000 or something in the last two days?

I have a feeling, just knowing how people are, a lot of backers (possibly a majority, but I don't have any numbers) probably just plunked down the requisite $15 and called it good. Suddenly jam-packing the tier just above that with goodies is a great incentive to get people to double their pledge and thus give WL2 a great injection shot at the last minute.

I say just do it now and send out emails in a flurry to all the backers ASAP! Time is short and we want as many people to go "Oooo! Ahhh!" as possible and break that 3mil mark!

:!: GOGOGOGOGO!!! :!:

I only signed up for the forums to vote against this. It's the same kind of "exclusive collectors bonus" type thing I'm so tired of seeing from big publishers to squeeze every extra dime out of you.

Yes, I've only dropped $15 on Wasteland 2 and won't be getting this content. Honestly, there is no digital "bonus" I can think of that is going to make me want to upgrade to $30. If I were going to upgrade at all, I'd just do the $50 big box package. All this is managing to do is making me feel less satisfied with the $15 I've already pledged.

Game will format your HDD if it's found DRM-ed portraits!
* JOKE *

It's only reason why I don't like exclusive content like this.
But that doesn't mater, because not everywant would do that and it's just reminder and "thank" for people who give some money for the game.

I have idea to inXile:
You can make something like non-ingame "Wall of Names", not in credits, but on website for example.
Somebody who give $30 pledge can save his name on special page at game website, and get "some" glory from it. ;)

Some people are going to pirate it either way, and some people are going to buy it. I hardly see this as starting some kinda massive pirating wave.

I was personally thinking that the $30 tier could be fleshed out a bit more, and if you add to it I would absolutely upgrade my pledge from $15. Good suggestions.

I would avoid extra in-game content accesible only to people backing at specific level/tier. It is kinda pushy. It resembles the kind of marketing as From Ashes DLC = pay extra money to get a person which is of very important race and was cut out from the game for some reason.

Also the game is considered to be moddable at some time so clever people will wait until somebody includes the portraits in a mod. And other people will feel pressed to pay more.

Add something very personal. Something that is impossible or more or less pain to find online after some time. The vision document is great, dev videos as well. Extra other-platform copy is literal equivalent of "holy shit! this rocks" but I doubt this would affect many people (me included). The portraits? Nah. This game is kinda indie but you should still consider PR. Witcher 2 is astonishing example of great fan service so avoid and I bet they would never include extra content locked to a specific groups of gamers. Avoid anything they did bad (DRM in first version of game) and follow their steps in what they did well.

I gotta say that I backed 200+$ so I have no personal motivation for denying the portraits. It is my moral stance.
