For those who want to check out Wasteland...

Let's help those out who may not be familiar with the Wasteland world, or may be only familiar with Fallout. What was Wasteland?!

Ah darn : / Well glad to hear that at least some folks are talking.

Pretty sad to see all these old games locked away due to big publisher IP. Well at least we all have Wasteland 2 to look out for, will be cheering you guys on!

P.s - If Wasteland 1 ever gets an official re-release again, please include the Wasteland Survival Guide! That was a gem of a hint book!

inXile would love to re-release Wasteland but does not own the full rights to do so. They have been talking with EA about it and as far as I know talks are still going well, though we shouldn't expect it to suddenly be re-released tomorrow.

But there's talks at least.

That's all I needed to hear.

I got hope. I got faith.

Hell, I never thought I'd ever see a Wasteland 2...yet here we all are.

I believe... 8-)

I would expect EA to eventually release the original Wasteland through GOG. They already signed on with GOG last summer and have begun to release a number of classics from their library of games. However, I would expect EA to time their re-release of Wasteland around the time that Wasteland 2 is finally released since there will be a tremendous amount of hype for the game by then. Of course, this is all speculation on my part and I may very well be proven wrong.

So if they get the rights to it, my suggestion is it'd be fun if they were to place a computer somewhere in WL2 that has a full copy of WL1 on it....... In my opinion that'd be f'in BA

If EA made a legal copy of Wasteland to buy via Origin or whatever, I would happily buy it. What I would *really* love for them to do is contract with inXile to remake the first game. If Wasteland 2 does well, it's something I hope EA considers.

You might be able to find a copy on eBay. Abandonware is not a legally recognized classification of software, but is generally considered to be "gray market", if you will. Even people strongly against piracy don't usually mind abandonware, but technically, it would be an illegal copy.

I looked on eBay earlier today. There are a few copies of The Ultimate RPG Archives, which has (the post-setup files version of) Wasteland. There's also a few copies of the Commodore 64 version for sale. I do a search probably once or twice a month just for fun. Each time I usually see a version of it out there.
