If I was only giving $50 or $100, I would simply say screw it and submit another pledge. But this is a crapload of money, and I'm not quite prepared to offer a crapload * 2.

You can cancel your pledge and change the amount. So if you end up double pledging your $1000 just reduce the amount later. Go to "manage your pledge". I assume this screen will only work when your pledge actually goes through.

Nope, there is nothing on my profile. It says "0 backed games", and there is just nothing there. No game info, no nothing. Just an "Edit Settings" button for my account info.

When I'm at the Wasteland 2 project website, there's a blue banner near the top that simply says, "CENSORED, your $1,000 pledge is being processed." It continues to say that every time I hit reload. In the right sidebar with all the donation tier info, there's a big blue "Manage your pledge" button. When I click on that, I get a pop-up window that says, "Your pledge is still processing. Please try again momentarily." I tried loading the page from my work laptop (IE8), and it's the same thing.

Hmm... okay. I now understand why you had concerns, certainly.

I think you'll be fine. I'm willing to bet your slot is still reserved. We've all been chomping at the bit for this thing to get started already so I imagine that the growth seen today will not sustain over the remaining days... but still coast over the finish line at close to 2 million.

One suggestion:

When you hit the $1.25M mark please make any additional content a free expansion for backers because I don't want you to delay the release of this game any longer than necessary!

Also, will I need a memory manager to run the game? I mean you are going to make it run natively in MS DOS. ;)

Success!

My pledge finally kicked in. The blue banner is gone, I've got the green "You're a backer!" sticker, my pledge amount is highlighted, my profile is updated as a backer of Wasteland 2, everything looks good.

Whew.

I pledged $100 + $15 for int'l shipping to Canada.

I spent the whole day surreptitiously refreshing the Kickstarter page during class and I drained my Blackberry battery in the process. It was unbelievable to see it climb by two or three thousand dollars every time I hit refresh.

I was too young to have known about the original Wasteland when it was released, let alone play it. But Fallout 1 and 2 are to this day my favourite computer games and an important part of my life. I will make a point of somehow playing the original Wasteland before Wasteland 2 is released.

Brian Fargo, thank you for this. It's a remarkable feeling being able to help this game come into existence and I can only imagine how excited you and your colleagues must be to see the pledges climb.

I pledged at the $89,000 mark after I finished giving a lecture this morning. I suspect us early supporters will wear our low pledge number as a badge of pride.
$175 supporter | Pledge made at the $89,000 mark on day 1.

Was wondering how long it would take for it to get on the Kickstarter main page. Now it is up there as the project of the day!

hardcore rpg fans are giving $1000 and above just to ensure the game has enough NPCs, locations and weapons

fwiw, you could've moved that reward into $10000 category - it wouldn't stop that crazy bunch  'shut up, bitch! our children can live in the street, but THE GAME NEEDS NPCS!!'

That's actually a really neat perk. I was lucky enough to be featured in a different action-rpg game a few years ago (my name was on an rare armor piece), and it was just an amazing feeling to be able to find it in the game and point it out to everyone  The game sucked, but it was still pretty cool while it lasted

So as attractive as this $1000 offer is, I'll keep my donation one 0 lower, and give others a chance to experience the awesome sauce 8-)

This is a bit surreal for me, I have to say. Certainly, I hoped that there were many other people sharing my enthusiasm for a sequel to Wasteland, but the rate of progress is amazing. Project funding is now up to 57% (520K+) people seem so excited and we're still in the first 24 hours.

I think this is going to be a major success in terms of funding and hopefully producers will begin to reconsider their perceived view of "reality" -not that I can imagine either Double Fine or inXile wasting their time trying to pitch a game to a producer ever again, after this.

P.S. In the time it took me to write this, another 21 people have pledged some 2k. Heartwarming, is what it is.

Wasteland 2 is funding a little slower than Double Fine's Kickstarter did (not that that's bad, Double Fine's was just crazy), but so far, more people seem to be committing to tiers in the mid-high range for WL2 than backers did for Double Fine. Currently, WL2's backers have spent an average of $58 each, while Double Fine's backers averaged $38. Dunno what it'll be like after 30 days, but... well... I thought it was interesting, anyway.

I'd love to see a day by day graph of the double fine totals.. I imagine there'd be spikes at the start and end but I wonder how much? I'm really pleased with WL2's progress though, was so stoked to see it ripping up today. Be a nice feeling to see it cross the $900k mark! Which I think will happen before too long.

I noticed that difference as well, but I hadn't followed Double Fine's project that early on so perhaps in the early stages of the DF project a larger percentage of backers had opted for higher tiers as well.

In any event, I do not see the funding of W2 as any sort of "contest" with Double Fine (nor am I implying you do :)). I think this is a very promising start in its own right, another 10K pledged since my previous message (541K at this point), so the project seems to be ticking along nicely as we're nearing the end of the first day.
