Sure is over here:
"In 2007, PayPal Europe was granted a European Union banking license, and is regulated as a bank by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF)."
Then again, I seriously doubt they do a lot of actual regulation in Luckzembourg.

For what it's worth, I've probably funneled thousands of eurodollars through my PP account and I didn't yet have my account held hostage. Their support is reasonably unjoyful to deal with, though, and yes I know that they like to Do Evil, like any big web company. eBay has some hilarious fees to begin with. PayPal is just an extension of their evilness.

I had mine held hostage because I tried to donate $15 to charity.

Donations tend to go that way because they require people to submit documents proving their not for profit status etc. Happened to a software developer I know who had a donation button on his website.

This was a long-standing charity. Child's Play, precisely, and it happened just this past Holiday season.

If we make a list of people being screwed over by PayPal/Creditcard-companys, we will overload the inXile server. ;)

They could be charged in court for that.

I've encountered myself the money-holding for several months, and even now my account is locked.
They could be sued in court if they were reachable. Right now they are registered as a Luxemburg company, and you could as well try to sue the Nigerian prince who offered you a good deal.

I hope you don't think I am ignoring the problems you and others have with PayPal, because I know that these problems are quite real.

I think the main reason neither I nor the people I know have had any problem with PayPal, is that we never have any money on our PayPal-accounts, i.e. the balance is always 0,00€.

So while PayPal could simply deny us service ( buying/donating is all we do ), they could not "hold hostage" our accounts as there is nothing there.

First, I'm not sure if this paypal thing is ok with Kickstarter or it's against their ToS. Because you know, they will not get their 3-5% from anyone who uses paypal, right?

Second, usually all the news and other features regarding project on Kickstarter are go through their site only for backers registered with Kickstarter. How do users with paypal get the news or accessing a feature on Kickstarter?

I think it needs to be clear. Because personally, I don't want this project got suspended on Kickstarter with whatever reason.

kickstarter had no problems inXile making paypal available (this was posted either by fargo in twitter or somewhere in the kickstarter project page).
the only danger here is only paypal itself. they "tend" to withhold payments. shifty f***s.

Does anyone know how you get your game after it is released?
Do they send you a steam key to your email address you donated with?

As far as I know, everyone who pledged will be sent a survey e-mail, where you specify all these things.

Just paid 15 Dollar via Paypal and know I want to know if there's any confirmation-mail or something, because I only got the E-Mail from Paypal.

Well, I paid via paypal today and so far, I got 2 emails from paypal, simply a transaction confirmation and another confirmation. Not sure if, when and what Inxile would be sending me. What did kickstarters backers receive? I'm supposed to keep these emails?

I'm sure the must be someone at inXile who keeps track of things. But yes, a little more detailed info would be nice to have. So I rest easy knowing this all will pretty much sort itself out automatically.

Hi, I just gave $15 via pay pal for the digital version of the game. Wondering how they will distribute the game after its made. Will they send it to the email connected to Paypal account that it was sent by or will i have to contact them and give them my receipt?

The way Paypal works, they have your email and all. So probably to that.

Alright I got 4 days to figure this out... is the reward tier system different for PayPal? Because... either I have to call my bank and raise the allotted usage limit on my card for the specific day, or use paypal to pay now. Thing is, my pledge tier isn't listed for the paypal section! I don't wanna loose my rewards if I use paypal... but I don't wanna risk having some issue where the withdrawal on my debit card happens later than the time it's supposed to or something and I loose my position that way... :? Gah!!! I'm kinda freaking out, I have no idea what do. lol

I don't think you can pledge over the $500 level via paypal. If you want one of those highest tier rewards, it's got to be Kickstarter, as I understand it.

I guess I'll play 20 questions with my bank... man, I hate doing that. Any time I buy anything big through debit they ask me stuff about myself that my own mother wouldn't know. Some of you might know what I'm talking about, they take identity theft so seriously now days.
