I never got it for C-64. I played it on 80286 12Mhz, 1Mb RAM, 40Mb hard drive and VGA display which I got in 1989. Those PC's were really expensive back then. Wasteland was definately one of my favourites. I only had 3 games in the beginning when I got the computer. Wasteland, Larry 1 and some Formula driving game, but the pc was definately a worthy upgrade to my old C-64.

I first played it on an XT (whopping 384KB of RAM!), and CGA. The system took forever to convert all the graphics to CGA when I was first creating the play disks. All things considered, the graphics were not horrible for CGA.

Used to piss my mom off all the time, because she'd call me for dinner or something, and I always told her I had to finish this last combat before I could save & quit.

C64, of course.

"What does the game want me to do? Prepare disks? What's that all about?"

An Apple II+ w/64K of ram (but 2 disk drives! - wasteland allowed you to hit '2' when it asked for a disk to let it know you had 2 drives to reduce disk swapping, heh...)

Sometimes my sister would play on our other Apple II+ at the same time (it had a green screen instead of a color screen though). I never was able to make a backup copy of the boot disk so we had to both boot off the same original floppy...

I still have both of those machines.

You can see scans of my wasteland box, disks and so forth in the link in my sig...

Tandy 1000 HX on 3.5" floppies, 256k of RAM. Bought an additional 128K of RAM from Radio Shack for something like $120, I paid less than that for the 16GB of RAM my computer is currently running. Bought the game from Egghead Software near the traffic circle in Long Beach.

Amstrad 1512DD! As name suggests it was a double floppy disk (360K - double sided double density 5.25" of course!), 512K RAM 8086 (4,7MHz) machine, with CGA graphics, which I bravely upgraded to 640K by the time I was playing wasteland..

It (my machine) was also considered cool among my friends with PCs, because its' speaker had a volume control knob - which meant I could play at night without parents being scared out of bed by all those noises of rifles and SMGs firing on full auto...

A rather "beefy" rig...
IBM PS\1 with 386sx-25MHz
2MB RAM
85MB Hard Drive.

PC/XT clone, 10 MB HDD, dual 5.25" floppy drives, 4 color CGA graphics with a 13" monitor. It had no sound card but was capable of producing various beeps and tones (I vaguely remember a small program that would play famous compositions on a virtual "piano").

My favorite games on the machine were by far Wasteland and Bard's Tale. I spent ages playing both.

You guys are gonna tear me apart but... I'm playing it right now for the very first time! Why, you may ask? Well, back in the late 80's (and up to now) I was an avid videogame fan and I played a lot of them on my old IBM 8086. Somehow I missed Wasteland on its time so when I knew about Wasteland 2 making the fuzz on various sites, I sure got fed up and decided to give it a try. Five minutes on some Abandonware site and good'ol DOSBox let me got a bit closer of what I missed.

Of course, I coudn't miss the chance of pledging on it. ;)

C64 for me as well. I was living in Indonesia at the time so I had lots of time to play it. I later played it again on an x86 IBM Clone.

PC version on an Epson 8086/640K RAM.

My buddy and I bought it together. He took the 5.25 disks and I took the 3.5.
Somehow I ended up with the paragraph book--still have it! 8-)

I played on a C64-C, the newer model. Despite the rampant piracy going on at the time (1988), Wasteland was one of the few games I actually bought and paid for. Mind you I was 12 at the time! I never beat the game but I spent a lot of time playing it and enjoyed all of the crazy things such as the bunny farm and timmy and Squeezins!!! Oh man I hated the bums begging for squeezins I couldn't wait to kill them.

Ah, the days when piracy was oddly stylish: http://imgur.com/pZlaN

DOS, off the Interplay 10th Anniversary CD. Probably around 1994 on a 486 PC. Didn't beat it until later, in a DOS window under Windows 95 or 98 (pre-DOSBOX, I think).

Originally on the C64
Then again on a P1 under Win95 from the Interplay 10th Aniversary CD.
Sad, I finally retired my C64 back in 96.
