Does anyone know how AC works?

Let's help those out who may not be familiar with the Wasteland world, or may be only familiar with Fallout. What was Wasteland?!

Does anyone know how AC works?

I have noticed that AC of 6 usually almost completely neutralizes 5dice attacks. How is it possible?

Every point of AC in wasteland negates a die of damage. So AC 6 should negate 5 die attacks.
