Because you have to make changes to make it work on both and it makes it work badly on the other platforms. That's why scale is so messed up on spiderweb games now.

You can make two different versions but no one ever does.

if they get well beyond 1.5 mil, I see no reason to worry about a tablet port because they would only have to do some optimization, and figure out a way to do left/right mouse click recognition.

This is pretty easy - same way as on a Mac touch pad. Left click - tap with one finger, right click - tap with two fingers.

Anyway, I don't think porting the Mac and Linux versions to iOS and Android respectively would be that hard or require that many changes to the game. Especially given the new iPad's capabilities.

I was going to suggest 'right click' - tap with right hand, 'left click' - tap with left hand, but your solution is also pretty good. ;)

Fist pass is PC, it has been said.

As to the IOS, I owuldnt be cuaght with on...not untill Apple drops those added costs per month. Hence I stay with my kindle. As to the tablet sure why not, but targeting only IOS, well looking at the age group...lets see how many download that just saying.

But bottom line going into the tablet realm would be a good move, but as of right now I have no ldea what, when, and how the team is going, and depending on the port, something has to be give or take. Lets sit back, and see what happens.

yes I know about BG port.

You see there are no games right now out that could prove that this kind of games will be playable in the same way as on PC without some constrains.

Furthermore, unfortunately it is all for iOS ... :( no android love at all.

and I am not buying iPad for sure ... :)

We could go back to talking about 3D graphics. I'm plenty unreasonable there. ;)
in my opinion

You know, I don't think this guy was gonna donate in the first place. He was just looking for an excuse to justify not doing so.

Why do you say that? Just because he only posted once and hasn't been back since? I think you're being too pessimistic. ;)

I would hope they do more than just make a sloppy port. Ports done right are great.

Think of Halo 1 as a port of the FPS to the game console. It just hadn't been done right before then.

The biggest problem is getting past the mental block to do whats been done and try something new that works even better. That means making so the game on a tablet feels like it was made for the tablet and not make you wish for a mouse.

It is a shame that android is fragmenting itself to death. Competition is always good. <offtopic>That being said with the current state of "idea" laws in the US there won't be any true competition until major changes to Patent and Copyright laws happen. I mean Apple's had more than their fair share of profits, they should move on. But laws are laws they need to be enforced.

Or consider Wasteland 1. That game should be by law in public domain IMO. </offtopic>

This is so exciting, isn't it?

"At 2 million we will increase the staff to make the game more social so that it can become a more shared experience. We like the concepts of dropping notes into the world for your friends who are playing the game, or perhaps we may allow you to send an item their way from Ranger center to help them out. "

Now, what was that poll about:

"POLL: As funding continues... What's next?!"
- Larger world and more content

Your donation monies turns the game into social media fwastlandbook ..
I'm looking forward to the 3 million threshold.

Yes he employs the word "social" and all of a sudden you forget his main concerns that are still to make "a better product for all as we can hire more writers and scripters to add even more depth of consequence to the world, add more music and sound to set the atmosphere, and make the world larger to explore".
Not to mention that he just raised that question as a possibility and during all this time he didn't stop to assert his strong positions on what makes a true good game, but you're still believing that he wants to make a Facebook game, because you seems kind of brainwashed and think that "social" means "Facebook and co"... This notion has existed way before the creation of any social network, you know, and putting people in touch is not evil, just saying...

That said, I don't see any relevant way to do that in Wasteland indeed, and for the most I think it is just a matter of why would they put some of their limited budget on it...
But let's see what they have to offer, after all, there was nothing explicit yet.
What will change the world in the first place is not what we will do, but what we will refuse to do yet...
