Ah! Heretic!

Well I do need to point out that my alltime favourite bit of gaming music was the theme from Enigma Force....

The above is a link to a slighty remixed version of it that does it much justice :D

Ah, so you're more fond of the 80's kind of stuff. ^^

In the same vein, I always love Turrican's sountrack, so dreamlike and epic!

Not bad...

If you like that sort of thing check out http://remix.kwed.org
It says c64 but there are a bunch of other bits in there as well.

Some really good versions of stuff.

Commando is another personal favourite

a classic dancehall bar somewhere in the desert, you open the door and find this:

radioactive crackling inclusive. simple yet rough sound of the wastes

though i guess many people will prefer this kinda folkloristic sound:

A ambient must for a dystopian Wasteland 2

Postby Wasp » July 12th, 2012, 2:36 pm

I really do think Trent Renzor is the idea candidate, especially for the ambience/mood of Wasteland 2. His Music has that harsh dystopian feel that will really contribute to the game. His music or that style would instantly make Wasteland 2 a serious in-your-face game that would instantly make your emersion into said game heightened.

Just take a minute to look at the movies he’s done the soundtracks to, instantly you can see, hear and feel the seriousness, the despair yet hope he adds to the films. Or take a look at the music he put out with NIN/HTDA, again very in-your-face, eroded, rusty sort-of-feel to it, yet a little light on the horizon. I feel it's a must on a game like this.

I think something like those two songs (of course relevent to the game) for the style of his music.

Personally i really love T.Reznor music, but i don't think he could do better job with adding mood for Wasteland2 than M. Morgan.

I'm founding Reznor music better for movies than games. Hes music seems to me slightly to noticeable for creating in game background mood.

Rezonor stuff could "go out in front of the line" slightly to much. While M Morgan abstract ambiance music will works perfectly - simultaneously being in hide.

Music is very important, but it can't overwhelm the whole picture.

(Hope you understand what i am saying there :) )

Well, Reznor's stuff worked well enough for Quake, but I preferred darker stuff for that, like Scorn.

While 80s-style synth wave experiences some significant hype recently, I think it does rightfully so.

Lookie here.

Or here.

Yeah - I guess in about a year it'll be the next big shit after Dubstep, but until then, let's enjoy  .
