Kickstarter Drive Update #15

Postby Brother None » May 1st, 2012, 1:26 pm

The Wasteland Chronicles developer blog has the 15th Kickstarter update. It talks mostly procedural matters.

We are still working with some backers on account reconciliation through Amazon, and we will have a final list of all backers and reward tiers tomorrow. Very soon we will prepare the questionnaires that correspond to your reward tier. Here you will be able to give us all relevant information on your shirt size, NPC characters name, what package you want or any other applicable bits relating to the reward you selected. Any information relating to in-game rewards (i.e. Statues, weapon names, shrines) we will use when setting our production specifications, so please try to send it back relatively soon. We’ll set a deadline on it, but you’ll have a few weeks to reply.

Once we have that information back, we will also set up a backer database on our site. You will be able to login with the user information you presented to Kickstarter or PayPal and can manage your reward tier here. If you move in the future, just stop by and update your address. If you’d prefer to be contacted at a different email, modify that in our database. If you accidentally selected the wrong reward, you will have the opportunity to change it. If you wanted a higher tier, but didn’t have the funds to secure it during the campaign, you will be able to upgrade your tier in a backer-only store. We are not changing any of the tier limits, so sold out tiers are unavailable as upgrades.

Not as gratifying as more concept art, but it's nice to have a progress update none the less.

We'll get to it.

This was never going to be the most information-dense portion of the process though, because it's all design meetings now and there's just not a lot for inXile to talk about. We hope the fans understand that, and there should be some news on key stuff (like that Wallin concept art, or engine news, maybe even the music sample Fargo keeps pushing for)

Also, did your avatar somehow get even worse?

There is so much great ideas, between Kickstarter and those projects. They should really gather all this and launch a "Kickstarter-like" site focused on video games eventually, to create a stronger center of gravity and adapted mean to give developers and the community a better and more visible turn-table for the independent scene. ;)

Really happy to see how they manage all this.
Just one question though. Could we possibly buy another low tier (not the limited ones) for a friend as a kind of upgrade or is this really not allowed? :P

PS: yes, music samples please. :D
What will change the world in the first place is not what we will do, but what we will refuse to do yet...

Luckily, it's nice outside this time of the year.

I have no doubt that Brian and InXile are mindful of the need to feed the fans, and clearly he knows at least a little bit about publicity. My feeling is that as we are in the earliest phase of an 18 month arc, that he is doing the smart thing by orchestrating the release of several worthwhile and exciting tidbits at once rather than just shoveling out daily news.

This is what we want from them really, to have the monkey off their back and give them creative elbow room, unlike having to satisfy the publisher constantly, right?

Well yeah, not trying to pressure the guys or anything, it's just that the message talked a bout some questionnaires being released soon and some time has passed, and i was worried i missed them or something.

Other than that i really don't care about updates with art, content, ect. I know the game is going to be fucking awesome. In fact, i'm avoiding to see any concept art, those counts as spoilers for me :)
