Yeah nothing unexpected here. Double fine had the same thing, big lull in the middle. It makes sense really, most interested people have heard about it and backed - although the surge of news at the end should prompt lots of newbies (I.e. not Fallout and Wasteland fans) to grab the game cheaply by backing now instead of paying more on release.

I think the hardcore have all contributed for the most part now.

they need to have some exciting new updates to get fence sitters onboard.

new levels, new content, etc..

as others have said, kickstarter campaigns are huge at the start and the end. the middle, you gotta really work it to keep up that stream of backers.

Well that's my point. I assume that Brian did not expected such big reaction and didn't come up with the strategy updates required for the middle phase. Actually from my humble experience all of the started projects in Kickstarter are missing the motivation during the middle phase!
So we have to wait for the final blow. I really hope that the activity will match the first days...

Upped my pledge by 50$ just because I feel that this is EXACTLY what this industry needs, which is no more "Big Ass games" publishers making US gamers feel cheated with false promises, lies and a bunch of nice CGI thrown in for good marketing.

Respect!

So far the comments are: ".. I've upped my pledge", so the kick in the donation was mostly from the previous backers. This put us back in the starting position. A news directly connected with the game will be required to restart the donations flow again? Something like a deep FAQ of the vision, backed by some concept art or prologue of the game?

Heyyy, does anyone else is watching the TakeDown kickstarter

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/355932838/crowdsourced-hardcore-tactical-shooter

Whoaaaa, it was around 20K bellow and suddenly one of the creator of minecraft - Markus Persson(@notch) just tweet about it and kaboom now it's getting 202K+ . Another strike for the indie development!!! The community is strong, it's just the problem of spreading the news!

P.S
Have to add also the contribution of totalbiscuit, iconic gaming commentator from youtube!! :)

Hum... no, that logic is hollow. And the facts are that there have been a massive upsurge of new backers too.
And the vision document will soon be delivered. ;)
What will change the world in the first place is not what we will do, but what we will refuse to do yet...
