I'd like to participate in the Localization process.I'm Fluent in english and german. I have experience in translating Patch-Notes and Interviews for the long gone Website inhellgate.de, which was a Fanpage for Hellgate London.

One thing that concerns me a bit is that, if the various translations are to be crowdsourced, due to the relatively anonymous nature of the Internet, I hope that there won't be a bad apple who would leak/spoil the script early. I'm sure we're all among friends here, though. If something so sad would happen though, I'm not sure it would be extremely tragic, since most fans would probably just look away, and Wasteland 2 is to be first and foremost based on player interaction with the various gameplay systems, instead of on really elaborate plots or lengthy dialogue.

I'll reiterate what I've already said in the other thread:

As someone who has worked on both fan translations and official ones before, I'll say that such a big project is hard to fully translate via crowdsourcing, especially if it is to be translated well, checked for consistency and ready at launch. Crowdsourcing the whole translation project is not any more feasible than crowdsourcing the actual development of the game, but I think it's a good idea to consult and brainstorm the translation with the community, e.g. on how to translate various names, terms, etc.

With a project like this, it's best to hire a team of professional translators who also happen to be fans (of which there seems to be quite a few here). Just like it wouldn't make much sense to crowdsource all the programming on the game to the fan community, even if many of them happen to be professional programmers.

In case of many localizations (including ones that I've worked on personally), the bad quality of the final product is often blamed on the translator, but most of the time it is actually a matter of not being given enough context (just raw text files to translate), not enough time to properly check consistency of the whole thing, not enough QA of the finished translation within the actual game (if any). Many of these things can be averted if the translators work closely with the developers.

I'm offering my help, too. Could offer quite a bit of experience in the field of translating role playing games, proofreading and quality assurance. Former projects are (amongst others) Wizardry 8 and Secret of Mana 2. My native language is german.

I would love to help with the German localization for this game, especially as the original Wasteland was a big incentive for me to learn English beyond what school demanded of me back in 6th grade.
I have studied modern English literature and my reading list ranges from genre fiction to serious literature and the classics.

The original Wasteland was a mindblowing experience for my younger self and for the longest time I have been waiting for another turn-based isometric rpg to come along.
I very much want to see this project succeed and since I have been annoyed by poor localization for the German market on numerous occasions ever since they became the norm I would be more than happy to help make this one work out.

Working as a game developer myself at Flying Wild Hog - worked as localisation specialist on: Hard Reset(PC) (Polish, English, Russian, German), Gran Turismo 5(PS3) (Polish) and Top Darts(PS3) (Polish) reporting for duty :)

Nah, and it wouldn't be possible, because there's not only ONE translator per language, that would be a shitload of time consuming work. The script is divided in chunks, sent to the translators and at the end the studio inserts those 'chunks' back in the different versions of the game.

I'd like to help with translation.
I have Russian and Ukrainian as my native languages, my English is fluent.
Although I'm currently studying in Poland so I can help with Polish too.
I always dreamed to take even the smallest part in game developing, so let me know if I'm needed.

As an old Fallout and CRPG fan, I'd love to help out with the German translation!

I grew up in a bilingual family, spent a total of six years of my life in West Texas, and studied for two years at UTEP, so I am definitely aware of the cultural and linguistic barriers that can kill a good translation. I am currently studying English and history at a German university and I am also employed at my local English department. Furthermore, I have translated a poker website into German before.

I'm a native Polish speaker and though I don't have any formal experience with translation, I think Wasteland 2 would be an absolutely perfect project to gain it.

I translated both Fallout 1 & 2 in Italian (single-handedly) and I worked on the Italian version of Ultima VII part 1 and 2. If you need an experienced Italian translator, here I am!

This doesn't look like an official sign-up thread, but just in case, I'm another Frenchman willing to work on the French localization.

I have worked as a translator before (not games unfortunately, technical documentation and business documents mostly), and I've been playing games my whole life (video games, pen & paper RPGs, wargames), hell, I even started learning English because I wanted to play Magnetic Scrolls and Infocom text adventure games so badly :)

I agree with what Ausir said, a small team would be easier to manage (for assigning work, keeping track of progress, sharing documents like lists of common names and spellings...). It would also be easier if there are Non-Disclosure Agreements to sign or similar paperwork.

I would like to help with the German translation. My line of work includes translations from English to German on (blurbs for tv documentaries for the most part). Plus I have been an avid scifi fan for decades and just love the idea of resurrecting Wasteland =)
