Especially happy for all those who inquired IF it WOULD be possible include a 'legal' copy of the original Wasteland game... for those who 'missed' the original or just no longer HAD a working copy ! 8-)

So this will be the 4th legitimate version of Wasteland that I will own in my lifetime. Crazy stuff :ugeek:

I was waiting for the conspiracy nuts to come up with a theory that subliminal messages will somehow be coded into this release of Wasteland forcing everyone to use Origin :P
The biggest failure in the recent past is this assumption that the audience is not smart.Too much effort is being spent making it dummy proof..all the clues are being held right in front of their nose. The exploration and journey is the reward

So, is Wasteland [1] going to be the original executable wrapped in some sort of emulator, or will the original game be 'remastered' using resources developed for the new Wasteland 2?

I realize remastering may be a time consuming exercise, but it could be useful to shake out game-engine issues without having the additional headache of needing to create new content at the same time. Remastering would also ensure cross compatibility across gaming devices (assuming wasteland 2 goes the same route as Bard's Tale and is released for smart phones).

The original executable wrapped in some sort of emulator.

I would enjoy seeing the original game in the new engine, but that would not be a cheap expenditure of dev resources. And if they do have extra resources, I would rather see Wasteland 2 be even bigger.

I hope it will be in the game, or something will be set up so that we don't have to install DOSBox or something to be able to run it.

I've never really had any trouble with DOSBox, myself. Any particular troubles?

Well, with the modkit and the original files, some enterprising modder might be able to do it.

I'm expecting multiple projects to port original to new engine, not sure if they work out though...

Both the Interplay 10 Year Anthology and the Ultimate RPG Archives (both include Wasteland) can be found on Amazon.

I use Loonies coupled with DOSbox thanks to Drool; I believe he was the one who told me about Loonies.

I bought my last copy of Wasteland off of EBay not told long ago; Interplay 10 Year Anniversary. Although, I am super excited to see it come bundled with Wasteland 2 now. It would be great if it got optimized so it didn't need DOSBox.

It seems highly unlikely that it would be released with the expectation of mass dependence upon DOSbox.

I dunno. I find it highly unlikely that EA or inXile would do much of anything to it to make it work in Windows, Mac, and Linux. Seems like a lot of work.

There needs to be a computer in Wasteland 2 with a playable Wasteland 1 on it.

If there isn't, we should see how hard it would be to put in a mod for that. I'd love that.

While I know it won't happen, I'd love to see an "HD" version of the first Wasteland. Same engine, but higher resolution imagery, incorporated paragraphs, more fluid animation on the portraits, that sort of thing.

That brings up a good point. I wonder how the paragraph book will be handled. Separate pdf file like what is found on the internet today? That seems really inconvenient for an official re-released product. Is that how the 10 year anthology was?
