I'm a software systems project manager and lead developer by current trade.
I was an archaeologist (focus was on experimental archaeology to determine construction/manufacturing technology and raw material provenance and their effect on social structure development) and will be again one day.
I used to do a lot of original fiction writing (not fanfic) as well.

Of those three, I suppose being an archaeologist is probably the stand out, seeing as we have programmers and writers galore, along with various artists. Whether or not that could be useful to the WL2 team is debatable but if needed I'm most definitely game.

I was the project manager for the character, mecha and environment concept design for Square Enix's Front Mission Evolved with Imaginary Friends Studios and Studio Hive.

Chinese is my native tongue and I have done translation work between English and Chinese. Capable of Japanese language as well.

My current geo-location in Singapore allows me to tap on multicultural resources for narrative research, scenario development, Asian localization.

请多多指教。どうぞよろしくお願いします。

Have any need for piano tunes? I would love to submit mood music. Here's an example of something I've done:

You could at least try contributing, you're already posting in the thread. If your stuff doesn't get picked it might be because they don't need what you can contribute not because it's of no value. Far as aesthetics and art go it's a very subjective matter. Worst that could happen is some idiot might insult your work because he doesn't understand it. You might get some constructive criticism which may or may not help your improve your work.

I'm a big fan of the American Southwest, and know quite a bit about it's history and the people who lived there, and *how* they lived there. It's been like a second home to me, and I love its harsh beauty despite being a person who desperately needs shade and water.
I could be of some help in properly placing flora and fauna, but what plants and animals have survived, and which ones have turned into mutants? Have cottonwoods gained sentience and intentionally sucked a farmer's well dry because he cut down one of them? Right now, Bark Scorpions are 3-4 inches long, glow under a UV light, and have a paralysing venom, could they mutate to be a foot long, glow *all* the time, and enjoy arm (well, pincer) wrestling?

I lack technical prowess, but it looks like that's pretty well covered here. I studied History/Poli Sci officially and biology/desert life unofficially (just about every vacation that I could get, I'd be out there).

Southwest experience is most valid for:
Eastern Southern California (Death Valley, Joshua Tree, eastern I-10, Mojave Desert, Manzanar Interment Camp, Owens Valley. I'm not intimately familiar with the aircraft boneyard at Mojave airport, but that could be a good place for interesting missions, a similar place is just across the Colorado River in Kingman, AZ),
Western Arizona (Sonoran Desert, Oregon Pipe).
Some experience with the Great Basin (Utah, most of Nevada) and the Chihuahuan Desert (Southeast Arizona, New Mexico, Big Bend/Western Texas), and several reservations (Tohono O'odham, Gila River, Kaibab, Colorado River, San Carlos, as well as some that are farther north or east than I think of when I think of the setting of "Wasteland").

I don't think of myself as that great of a writer, especially while trying to keep a consistent tone, or one that isn't wholly mine. But I suppose I could be a bit of a technical editor, in terms of ensuring that things are either biologically/technically correct or really funny?

EDIT: I also realize, looking at some of the posts above me, that some of the fans here might never have had the luck to step foot in the American deserts. Granted, going by the Trinity site in the Jornada del Muerto is the closest I've been to a post-nuclear apocalypse, but I could perhaps provide a bit of flavor in that regard, as well?

I'd happily assist with asset development, story development, or level design.

Unity is an interesting development tool and I have it on my system.

But, since quality in crowdsourcing is so very hit and miss I'd also be happy to be a front line review / quality assurance funnel.

Wow, what an impressive collection of minds has stepped forward! I'm sure inXile is salivating at the prospect of leaning on some of the expertise written about by the posters in this thread.

Responding to one of the posters above: I can definitely vouch for yllandian's writing. His writing is top-notch and well thought out. I have been collaborating with him on writing projects for many years, including short fiction, role playing games written play-by-post style, radio-style commercials, as well as some audio compositions on keyboards. inXile would benefit greatly from his collaboration.

As for what I could offer: I have a keen eye for detail, specifically with respect to the English language, grammar, syntax, etc. I have done some editing, including role-playing game materials, novellas, short stories, solo dungeons, role-playing game play-by-post compilations. I'd be thrilled to put on my editor hat to review pieces of the scenario design. I have also written some fiction as well, mostly set in the Wasteland universe (http://wasteland.rockdud.net/chronicles.html).

Finally, while I understand from prior exchanges that professional voice actors are most likely going to do the voice work, if there are any sound effect/voice snippet vacancies you're looking to fill with eager amateur voices, please consider my vocal talents. I've been "doing" voices, impressions, impersonations, for all my live long life. A couple years ago I even auditioned for the voice of the AFLAC duck and have the rejection letter to prove it. :) (They totally should have gone with my Arnold Schwarzenegger / duck combo impression, but they went with the same duck sound they already had! Sigh.)

My god i feel useless in the middle of these talented people. Programming? No. writing? Nope. composing music? Seriosly no. eagerness to help? Definetly!

i can only offer my knowledge in watchmaking and fine mechanics (hence i Am a watchmaker) so if there's absolutely anything you want to know about timepieces let me know!

Afterall.. Mechanical watches will work even after nuclear apocalypse ;)

Hello, Max Webber here.

I've been interested in helping to flesh out the world of Wasteland 2 for some time. That's why I've spent what time I have free from the stresses of pre-apocalyptic life developing this game, "Dome on the Range," in Twine.

You can play it here: http://www.maxwrit.es/games

I'd like everyone to play it and give me their feedback (this will be really helpful for future projects).

I give my permission for this story and characters to be used, as a whole or in part, in Wasteland 2, if I'm credited. I also would like to hear about how I can help create even more great stories and characters for the project.

I would love to contribute! I'm a very competent writer, proofer, and copy editor. I have worked for years as an English tutor and proofreader at my University, and currently work with ESL students to reinforce grammar rules on a one-on-one basis.

Here's a sample short story with a relevant theme. You can't tell from the text, but it is about the post-apocalypse that hits every culture when advanced invaders arrive. The main character is an aboriginal tribesman of the British Isles after Germanic tribes arrived and violently depopulated the land. From Germanic poetry, we know that these aboriginals were diminutive--known as dwarves--and avid brewers. The title, Ubi Sunt, from the latin phrase, "Ubi sunt qui ante nos fuerunt?", translates to "Where are those who were before us?", which is a genre of Old English elegiac poetry from the point of view of the few survivors of war or famine. It is very post-apocalyptic.

I can help writers with ideas, texts, stories and so on. I'm the owner of internet magazine about oldgames (igrotop.org), maybe I can do something needfull ;)

Also I told Chris Keenan about translations of the game into Russian.

SoCal native. Cracked out on Wasteland back in the day. 17+ years in web development but jack of all trades (coding, databases, system architecture, graphic design, marketing, social media, flash game distribution, etc.). Specializing in optimization and big data.

These kids and their new fangled HTML5? Pfft. My brother and I built a version of the Wasteland map as a HTML based browser game (you could walk around the grid based world map and that was about it) back in the mid 90s.

I currently operate a flash game site we built from scratch which gets 120k uniques a day, 100+ games published for Android, and a browser based game design engine which builds procedural flash games on the fly. I always thought it was interesting that inXile picked up LineRider (investigating the other Sparkworkz properties now).

If inXile is looking for any consulting (both paid and unpaid) as far as bulking up your web presence let me know.

I am a bit of a 3d modeler (it's a hobby). I am familiar with Softimage XSI 7, Mudbox and Zbrush. Here are some of my smaller assets. All made in XSI and rendered in Zbrush:

I am also a bit of a screenwriter (also a hobby). I have 4 completed scripts, 1 option and 1 almost sale (screw you scifi channel). But I'm not posting those for you to read.

However, I also work full time as a welder/machinist. So I could only help out here and there in my free time.

I am primarily a writer, fluent in Polish, English and, eventually, German. I have no problems with creative writing (that includes writing dialogue) and have prior experience in game design. I'm also a dabbling texture artist and graphics designer, the former includes modifying existing textures and creating them from scratch.

Fistful of Examples:

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/43560 - Honest Hearts Letter, collaboration with Lexx (writing)
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=811799 - Fallout 2 Restoration Patch (designed the entire submarine quest sequence, wrote additional dialogue for the Emperor, incl. backstory entries)

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36682 - Texture made from scratch, using the original UV mesh
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/37709 - Likewise
http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36609 - Label remade from scratch

I have various ideas for characters, quests, and other story related items.
I've been a DM for games like D&D and Shadowrun for many years, so coming up with interesting quests to keep players entertained is something I've put a lot of work into.

I'm also a journalist, so if you need articles or PR done, I'm your man. :)

TiLT wrote:I don't know if you're looking for additional music, but I'd very much like to contribute a track or two to the soundtrack if at all possible. Mark Morgan's Fallout soundtrack has had a deep and profound influence on my own music for years now, and some of the stuff I make is reminiscent of his work in many ways, particularly my attempts at dark ambient. Most of the stuff posted below is very drone-like and suitable for the darker areas of a game, such as dungeons, caves and cultist/bandit hideouts.

While the tracks below could be used as-is for Wasteland 2, I could also make new tracks relatively quickly if that is wanted. If so, consider the following to be demos of some of what I can do. A few of these were co-composed by a friend, who will give written permission for their use if necessary.

Overwatch - A percussion-based track, perhaps with a martial bent.
Thunderous Depths - Dark, oppressive drones, hinting at past atrocities and vileness.
Evil Drones - Mysterious drones. Could work well while exploring the bowels of an abandoned ship or lab.
Denizens of the Underworld - Haunting drones, deep basslines and dark choirs. Suitable while exploring a bandit's den in a cave somewhere?

A few others that should be considered nothing but demos. They aren't complete, and would not be used in their current form. Still, they do show off some more of what I do: (titles as unfinished as the music itself)

Spacey2 - A little piece inspired by the X-Com combat music. Ignore the stuff near the end.
Deep Disturbance
Dungeon5 - Slightly friendlier than most of my other stuff, though not exactly joyful.
Creepy - As the title says.

Really good stuff. Would make great background music when exploring. I especially liked the way you used the sparse melodic and bass lines in "Denizens"... actually reminded me a bit of Godspeed You! Black Emperor if you've ever heard of them.
