Kickstarter by ex-LucasArts developer for new space sim

Garry M. Gaber, an ex-LucasArts developer has started a Kickstarter to produce a spiritual successor to the popular X-Wing series called Starlight Inception. Gaber's credits include a number of Star Wars games as well as the special edition of Empire Strikes Back. Inception will help revitalize the space sim genre with the hope that it reaches its goal.

Yeah, it looks really cool. I backed this a week ago. Shame it doesn't look like it's going to get funded via kickstarter. It's got the right talent behind it, a good concept, and it's delivering something that should be made. C'est la vi.

Star wars universe never compelled me beyond watching it for the popular meme's and social knowledge. Oh and I played some starwars game where you circled the big elephant like things on long legs with a cable and made them fall down and die. But it's not something I'd really LOVE to get a replay of.

If there'd be anything credible that's takes X3, simplifies it a bit, puts in a few EVE Online mechanics without online- and mixes it with Freelancer and adds a sprinkle of good UI designers - I'd back it in a jiffy.

Someone should kickstart a Master of Orion 4 and have it be awesome like 2 was. That's the space sim I'd want.
