Is the Wasteland comic inspired by the 1988 game?

I figure it's most likely a coincidence, but Andrée Wallin's Desert Rangers concept art does bear some resemblance to the comic's art style, which in turn may have been inspired by the game. Thoughts? And I'm aware that the similarities aren't that great.

A quick look at Wikipedia makes me think no. It uses the name, and is post apocalyptic, but that's pretty much where the similarities end.
