Hi-res scan of original Wasteland cover?

Postby jaredev » July 4th, 2012, 10:37 am

I would love to have a high-resolution scan of the original Wasteland cover for my background wallpaper. Google image search yielded a few low resolution scans...

Please point to in the right direction to get a copy! Thanks!

If you tell google to only show 'large' results, that helps. This image is 1096x1020. This is 1440x1405. They're both images of the boxes themselves (so there's borders and such) as opposed to just the image, but...

Here is what I use; but it's not the Wasteland 1 cover (that Drool mentioned how to find)... I use the Wasteland 2 concept art, shifted to reds.

Problem is, I don't know of a photo host that will take a 1920x1080 image without resizing it down. One could do as I did; download the concept art and shift the color in an image editor. Image

The one that's not blurry is pretty cool; I think that is the one I used (with others) for this...

Those links aren't high-res scans, they are blow ups of low-res images. Would be nice to have one without the CPU platform sticker at bottom left corner. Guess I'm out of luck :(

Yeah, it's going to be hard to get a true high res image because of how old the product it. Presumably, if you find one, you could crop out the platform sticker.

I still have the retail box, so if nothing else comes through I should be able to hook you up sometime soon. Just too tired atm, now dealing with a demanding family situation on a few hours sleep per day. (and yes, a guy still has to have some wind down time on the forums right?)

Just did these this morning:

Box scan, 1200dpi 50% reduced, 4098x5300, 52MB
Image

Crop of box scan with 2pixel Gaussian blur, 2713x2952, 8.7MB
Image

Also, @Gizmo, mediafire will host any file up to 200mb for free, and has forum code and tumbnails to link to the original file. Also, the Wasteland wiki can host 10mb images.

Good news:

@BrianFargo

I just tracked down and bought the original art for Wasteland thanks to Quarex. http://pic.twitter.com/1hSmF8oQ

According to his Facebook, he "will create hi res scans of them and look into creating a lithograph."
