Just a small thing, When I view characters for games, what gets me is how artistically perfect they are, even when wearing riot gear. All of their cloths fit perfectly, all of their gadgets and other bits and pieces hang at exactly the right angle so not to spoil the aesthetic. I really do wish designers would make things less symmetrical, less 'perfect' and add some ugliness. It would help my imagination.
This was kind of the aesthetic I was going for, for sure! Post-apocalyptic enough to have some loose, dirty well-worn gear, but not quite Wastelander rags either; they're Rangers after all, they have standards to maintain! I also didn't want them all to be "smokin' hotties" in the proud tradition of game design, because, well, the reasons are obvious. But I didn't make them
all totally gruff and rugged either, because badass is an state of mind, not an image

Thanks, Inca!

I'm glad they meet WL1 standards in some of your eyes!
Brendan wrote:Nice work! They look awesome. If I may offer an idea - how about one or two stockier ladies. This is based solely on the research I did for this post :
http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=721&start=220#p34735Some of those ladies were built like brick shithouses and were big and muscular enough to beat the tar out of most guys in a bare knuckle fist fight. Think USSR Communist era javeline and hammer-throw athletes.
I plan on doing some more concepts when I'm less busy later in the week, so I'll definitely take this into account next time! The reason they are all roughly the same proportion is I just C&P'd the same "paperdoll" 9 times and drew over her frame. I even thought about tryin different bodytypes, but then my laziness kicked in and I figured "Eh, probably won't plump up too fast on field rations anyway"

OP, second image, first girl (with earmuffs), leg hair? That'd be refreshing, rugged, but refreshing.

Haha, sure enough! I know I wouldn't want to bother with beautification out in the wastes and my ladies don't either! Well, the trenchcoat uzi girl does have eye make-up, but she's obviously more concerned with her style than the others anyway!
(P.S. "Hella Killz"?
Totally canon. In fact, if anyone else wants to throw out a name for their fav lady, shout it out! One name each; first come first serve!

)
Only one I claim is the first girl, who I dubbed "Lucky" while drawing her, which seemed a fittingly ironic moniker her comrades would give her busted up self.

Why thank you, my Fatherland Friend!

Again, glad someone appreciates it! I tried to put thought into each one's scheme and role and design. Each their own individual while still maintaining unity and cohesion throughout the whole piece.

I'll get right on it, chief! Sounds like a fun challenge

I might have to do a pink ranger now too
