I'm liking what I hear. I do favor having a new location to get rid of all the comparison with the locations in the first game. I see how it can become a "this detail isn't correct" debate out of that. New Mexico seems to have a diversity that could make for a really interesting are to play in. On krellen it sounds like the game designers would have a lot of fun things to explore and play around with.

What story or alteration since the way can we imagine on those locations to make them wasteland-ish and really interesting?

btw... is any part of Rosswell actually "closed down" and inaccessible? Like Area 51 sort of thing or is all that just a load of wash?

+1 for Navajo Nation rangers or something - AND USING Navajo original language in some parts for extra cred points.

Load of wash. The shut down AFB in Roswell is used partially as a school campus, partially for airplane tests, and partially for storage.

You mean school campus for aliens! Riiight? And ALIEN airplanes testing. And uhh... storage for alien bodies maaannn!

- yeah i figured that may be the case... you guys should really think about forming some kind of "actual history/reality department" otherwise the hollywood is going to make a bad acid trip out of all of it.

Roswell likes the image of alien stuffs. Tourism is one of their major industries.

I want to find a river with a bridge and an armed man in black. who refuses to allow me to pass.

I want to find a Native American tribe still somehow managing to maintain it's social cohesion as the world around them erupts in fire.

I want to climb to the highest structure in an oppressive city and find a perfect sniper's nest with a guard asleep (and another one walking back to his post after getting some food).

I want to find a garage with a repairable monster-truck.

I got the first one, I think I got the third one, not sure if there is one for the second(too generic) and I have no idea about the fourth one.

This might be a bit cliche, but I really like exploring old military bases that have been taken over and adapted by new residents; be it robots that have set up production or raiders that use it as an outpost to raid close-by settlements. I especially like them if they have underground complexes. It's even more exciting if they are actually guarding something of value, like databases of military information somehow vital or really useful in the new society. It could be schematics aiding in production of military equipment or similar. What do you think? Cliche or exciting?

Thats one of the staples of the genre so im pretty sure we dont need to especially suggest it anyway.
Not a cliche, no.

If the inside story and gameplay would be exactly the same each and every time it would be. Since its never completely the same... all you have to do is come up with your own twist on the theme.

I also like the idea of visiting some kind of social group or minority that for some reason would have an edge after the bombs fell and thereby got some upper hand, like the Navajo mentioned here earlier. There might be other examples of similar groups that made it better than others because of some upper hand (the Rangers themselves are one for starters).

Im quite sure that will be covered anyway since that too is one of the themes very connected with general post apocalyptic theme.

In this case we can make a suggestion of an actual example of such a group, if there is any in the bigger area we are talking about.
Just like Navajo nations in New Mexico.

But generally speaking, as i mentioned before, i would also like to see something new arising in the world, or spaces that humans have now abandoned and well... left wide open.
Rather than focusing the whole of the game on humans and remnants of human society exclusively.

Is there any tunnels in new mexico? they can be used in similar way to your bridge idea, what about subway? subway station can be a fun location. Malls, airports and industrial complexes can be fun too, what about some robo toy factory that was adapted to make killer robots or is this way out there?

I just love to set the base defences against them

I'm not aware of any New Mexico cities with subways. Albuquerque doesn't have one.

We have caves, though. The Carlsbad Caverns are quite impressive.

Any reference to what happened to Yucca Mountain would be nice. Hopefully the toxic monsters that live there don't get out.

The Yucca Mountain project was cancelled due to local politics.

Oh I know, thank Satan it was too. I reckon because it took Obama to officially cancel the project not too long after being inaugurated, but that would be after the bombs fell in the Wasteland timeline.

Nothing ever got stored at Yucca Mountain. I suppose it's conceivable that it was otherwise in the Wasteland timeline, though, so I concede. :D

I think the WIPP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waste_Isolation_Pilot_Plant in New Mexico could be a site of interest for some of the people in this thread if you like government installations, geological formations, nuclear waste, and the Yucca Mountain site. The only problem is the first waste shipments were received in 1999 (one year after the war in WL), despite being completed several years beforehand.

you dont have to pick an exiting location, just invent something that you would like to see as location you can visit.
