Update #22

The team at inXile is filled with nervous energy to show off what we’ve been working on. As we’re now in full production, we’ve been making some great strides with the game’s systems. There is still quite a ways to go, but we’re near the point where we can show you all a bit of what you pledged to make a reality.

Within a month, you can expect a new update which will show a few minutes of actual gameplay. The video will follow a slice of the Agricultural Center, which was designed by Mr. Chris Avellone. You’ll see a team of four Rangers running around in the world, some early working HUD elements, a few combat encounters, a taste of dialog, and the ranger team using some of their skills. We’ve been working on each of these systems separately and this is the first time we’ve put them all together to get a small sample of the gameplay experience. It’s beginning to look like a real game!

Keep in mind that this is an early build and is intended as a progress report, not as a demonstration of final gameplay. As always, we want to hear your feedback! It has been a cornerstone of our development up to this point and we beg that you keep it coming as it will only result in a better game for everyone. We follow all channels available to us so let us know with a comment below or on Facebook, Twitter, our blogforums, or by simply shouting very loudly.

  1. As a embedded QA for a very big game company, I truly admire and look up to your view of ‘the industry’ and all the corporate greed behind it. You are honestly an inspiration to us that are trying to enter the field to make truly amazing video games, and not just money. Good luck guys!

  2. I saw the update on Fb when I got home from work, and immediately went to see the tiered donation/gift updates for the game. Not knowing where else to say this…I’d totally drop the $1k on this kickstart if I could choose the name and background/skills for the NPC in the game I’d get. :)

  3. Thanks for the update #22. How about using using Survey Monkey (or something similar) to collect the backers choices? Maybe have a few rounds, narrowing it down say from 5 to 2 choices over the course of a week or more. I would definitely announce this through a Kickstarter update, as I believe more backers keep track of that than the forums of all the projects they’ve backed. I’ve always imagined it to be a chore to sift through tonnes of rubbish (i.e. non-constructive) posts to get to the good ones, so i hope this helps.

  4. Oh ma, can’t wait, especially after seeing the 2nd screen shot and the few game-play glimpses from the recente Brian Fargo interview video!

    Will the game play footage also contain stuff made through the crowd sourcing process (like maybe the Shanty Shack or some computer, water tower, etc)? I think that’d be really cool to show, and also to mention it in commentary or something.
